Description and Basic Information ::
|
The Airport is served by 4 public transit routes; 13 private scheduled transit operators; 20 door-to-door van operators (on demand and pre-arranged); 33 hotel courtesy shuttles; 6 on-Airport rental car shuttles; 7 off-Airport rental car shuttles; four off-Airport parking shuttles; approximately 210 charter companies, over 625 limousine operators and a large taxi fleet. The Airport also offers convenient access to Amtrak, BART and Greyhound. The Airport operates a free shuttle between the Airport and the nearby Caltrain station.
One of the nicest features of the San Francisco International Airport are the information booths that are staffed by friendly and helpful people. Five booths, which are staffed between the hours of 8:00 AM and 12 midnight, are located in the baggage claim area of the terminal complex. Multi-lingual agents provide information on ground transportation, Airport facilities and services, Bay Area lodging accommodations and cultural events.
The booths are also equipped with ATT Language Line capability for translation of over 160 languages. The booths sell transit 'passports' to visitors, which provide discount transit fares within the City of San Francisco. The booths currently provide information to about 8,000 daily passengers.
A taxi from San Francisco International Airport to downtown San Francisco will cost around $30. |
