Johnny Foley's Irish Pub Experience
At Johnny's, plenty of Irish beers and stouts lubricate the conversations of its animated, young clientele. There's good pub grub, too, and it's all served in an atmosphere that will make you think you're in Dublin — and not steps away from the shoppers at Union Square. Tin ceilings, dark wood paneling and an inviting long bar add to the atmosphere.
Try pub food classics like cottage pie, ground beef and vegetables in gravy with a mashed potato crust; chicken curry with mango chutney; champ, or mashed potatoes with scallions and parsely; or fish and chips. There's a beef and Guinness soup, made with barley and onions; Mullyash vegetable soup, and the obligatory steak and mushroom pie topped with short crust, as well as lighter fare like tarragon chicken salad, and mountainous grilled sandwiches served with fries. Entrees include Irish lamb stew, smoked cod in white sauce, and corned beef and cabbage.
A 'Snacks and Spuds' menu offers treats like fried calamari, garlic french fries or Irish-style, with malt vinegar; smoked salmon boxty, a crispy potato pancake; or grilled sausages served with English mustard and soft pretzels.
Desserts include fresh baked apple pie, sherry trifle and Baked Alaska made with Irish coffee.
The pub also features live entertainment nightly, including the occasional traditional Irish jam session. |
