Amira's Hedonistic Delights
Belly dancers, succulent food and candlelit ambience combine to make Amira a great spot for a sultan's dinner.
Start your meal with a garlicky walnut dip and pita bread, sink back onto the velvet cushions and prepare for a feast: Amira's 'Pan-Mediterranean' cuisine combines the best of Lebanese, Turkish, Greek and Moroccan flavor combinations.
Babaganoush, the smoked eggplant appetizer, is a good warmup, as is a spicy hummus.
Entrees include a spicy Moroccan couscous topped with lamb, chicken or shrimp; Libyan chicken, marinated in lemon, cumin and black pepper; the popular apricot chicken, slightly sweet in a cinnamon-apricot sauce with sesame seeds; and a Moroccan pastilla, a filo pastry stuffed with chicken, egg, almonds and cinnamon.
After dinner come the belly dancers — veiled, curvy and supple, they add a suitably hedonistic feel. Entertainment is included in the prices, but it’s customary to leave an extra tip for the dancers.
Baklava and rich Turkish coffee round out the evening. |
